Coin Silver Teaspoon

Maker: Asa Blanchard (circa 1770-1838)

Ref. No. 100310-032

The teaspoon is struck with one of Asa Blanchard’s earliest marks used in Lexington: AB in a cartouche, and likely dates between 1810 and 1815. The mark is clear, but lightly struck at the bottom outside corner of the A. The spoon has a slight compaction at a corner on the end of the handle. The bowl has barely visible wear caused by a right-handed user. The surface is good with no monogram or removal of such. It is in generally good condition for an early teaspoon, which often suffer teething marks and other calamities which their slight size are ill equipped to withstand.
